Institute for Ethnographic research

The Institute for Ethnographic Research provides students and faculty with the resources and intellectual community for generating cutting-edge ethnographic research and teaching. Our mission for research is to foster the use of ethnographic tools to study how things work in organizations (and beyond) and, more broadly, the lived experience of people. Our research is interdisciplinary and primarily conducted at OCE Research Center. Our mission for teaching is to provide high-quality, hand on, training to undergraduate and graduate students in the methodological and epistemological principles of ethnographic research. We support continuing innovation in the practice and expression of ethnography. We also host two annual events: The ethnoworkshop and the negotiated criminality workshop.
